Summer is here! It is time to get out, enjoy life, and live like you have never lived before. But every summer needs a playlist, right? Here are my Top 6 summertime songs you should add to the rotation:

Originally released in 2020 during the COVID-19 lockdowns, "Party 4 U" has re-emerged with new verses and even a music video recently. First, I would like to say Oh my God, to the emotional rollercoaster this song is. From hoping they’d show up to the party you threw for them, to partying on them because they did not show. I think this song is a masterpiece, especially after Brat summer, she is definitely keeping the momentum going. I highly recommend that if you have noise-canceling headphones, give this one a listen.

Featured Lyrics:

You could watch me pull up on your body

Like it's summer, take my clothes off in the water

Splash around and get you blessed like holy water

I don't know what you were waiting for

You know that I've been waiting for you

Released in 2009, “Pursuit of Happiness” is still a timeless and classic piece. The lyrics, mixed with the hypnotizing electronic beat, really relax a person. I first discovered this song whilst watching the end credits to “The King of Staten Island” (great movie, I highly recommend). The happy ending coming before this sweet tune solidified the ‘feel goodness’ of this song. It is almost inspirational. This one is definitely a windows down on a warm summer night song.

Featured Lyrics:

Living my life, getting our dreams

People told me slow my roll

I'm screaming out, "Fuck that"

I'ma do just what I want

Looking ahead no turning back

If you are on the side of TikTok that I am on, then you are no stranger to this one. Originally released by Chrystal in 2015, it has been remixed by NOTION and has climbed the charts since released this year. Not only is this the perfect rave song, but the lyrics tell a story about the good days, which makes it the perfect song for the summer. Do you think about the days?

Featured Lyrics:

Swing around, come on, chill with me

I got your favorite show recorded on my TV, but

We don't have to watch that, no

I'll turn off the radio

Yes, another one by MGMT. I am a diehard fan of the film “Saltburn”, and that film introduced me to this song. Funny enough, the song played during a montage showing the main characters enjoying their summer. Maybe that is what influenced me to include it. Its fast, electronic beat gives a familiar feeling. Almost like a ‘let’s live in the moment’ feeling. Enjoy your summer before it's over, and you go back to pretending!

Featured Lyrics:

This is our decision to live fast and die young

We've got the vision, now let's have some fun

Yeah, it's overwhelming, but what else can we do?

Get jobs in offices and wake up for the morning commute?

“Walking on a Dream” is what I hear when I hear the word euphoric. It very much could be interpreted as a love song, but nonetheless, it encapsulates that summer feeling. For me, it’s that ‘enjoying my day at the beach’ feeling.

Featured Lyrics:

We are always running for the thrill of it thrill of it

Always pushing up the hill searching for the thrill of it

This song has been sampled so many times, but, in my opinion, it never out does the original. It really embodies that ‘there’s a pool at the house party’ feeling. I believe we all need a semi-instrumental song in our playlists, and Daft Punk is the #1 supplier of it. Its time to celebrate!

Featured Lyrics:

Music's got me feeling so free

We're gonna celebrate

Celebrate and dance so free

One more time

Sadly, there are only 2 months that make up the summer, but that only means you have to make the most of it. With any summer, you need a summer playlist. A playlist to make memories to. Hopefully, I influenced you to add at least one of these into your rotation.

Stay Safe! Have an Awesome Summer!
